Mytilus edulis
A bivalve that clutches the rocks en masse to filter-feed. The old shells are often found in halves worn away of their deep navy to reveal magenta rings, and with a mother of pearl (nacreous) underside.
Splashed onto our worsted weight 100% superwash merino yarn
4 ply, 218 yds, 100g, never from mulesing
Hand dyed in Maine
Actual color may vary slightly due to hand dyeing process and lighting. It is always recommended to alternate skeins to avoid unwanted color pooling if a project requires more than one.
Hanks can be wound into cakes for an additional fee. Not recommended for long term storage or for more than 3 hanks per order due to loss of integrity in the fiber from extended tension on the yarn. If you would like to purchase more than 3 caked hanks in your order, please e-mail freshwaterpurlfiber@gmail.com and we’d be happy to arrange that for you.
