Aurora Borealis
Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, shows up more often than the public realizes here in Maine. Its more classic colors of pink and green are the result of excited atomic oxygen particles entering Earth’s atmosphere at different altitudes after being flung here by solar flares. Look to the northern horizon as far as you can manage under clear, dark sky when all the conditions of solar flare impact align. The pink and green of this colorway fluoresces under black light to mimic the lighted color of its namesake.
Splashed onto our chunky weight 100% superwash merino yarn
3 ply, 106 yds, 100 g, never from mulesing
Hand dyed in Maine
Actual color may vary slightly due to hand dyeing process and lighting. It is always recommended to alternate skeins to avoid unwanted color pooling if a project requires more than one.
Hanks can be wound into cakes for an additional fee. Not recommended for long term storage or for more than 3 hanks per project due to loss of integrity in the fiber from prolonged tension on the yarn. If you would like to purchase more than 3 caked hanks in your order, please e-mail freshwaterpurlfiber@gmail.com and I’d be happy to arrange that for you.
